Colette Peters, described as the Lady Gaga of Cakes, is author of five books, Food Network celebrity, and owner of Colette’s Cakes, a specialty cake company in New York City. After getting her art degree, she went to work at Tiffany & Co. While there she made cakes for her co-workers and in 1984 was asked to design cakes for the books Tiffany Taste and The Tiffany Wedding, where she created the innovative crooked cake and the gift box cake.
Peters has delivered cakes throughout America, Europe, and the Caribbean and taught classes around the world. She’s made cakes for celebs including Sting, Yoko Ono, Bette Midler, Whoopi Goldberg, Jann Wenner, Russell Simmons, Kanye West, Al Pacino, Robert Altman, and the Rolling Stones, to name a few. And for royals, the weddings of Marie-Chantal Miller and Prince Pavlos of Greece and Alexandra Miller and Alexander Von Furstenburg.
Peters was asked by First Lady Hillary Clinton to create “sugar scenes” for the White House Christmas displays in ’98. In 2000, she was again asked to create decorations for the White House. In 2005, she made a five-foot replica of the White House for President Bush’s Inaugural party
Colette has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Food Network, CBS This Morning, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Discovery Channel, CNN, and Lifetime Television. Her cakes have been in featured in many publications and have appeared in films, Broadway plays and television. She has participated as a contestant and judge on many Food Network Challenges, including the first Wedding Cake Challenge and the Mystery Cake Challenge, both of which she received a first prize of $10,000. In 2010, she won first prize on TLC’s Ultimate Cake Off, also receiving $10,000.
